Learning Fund News

Just two more fundraisers left this year! We know you are asked for donations from many sources. We want to remind you why it is so important to donate to the Learning Fund. Without your donations your child would NOT benefit from:

  • Technology - COWS (Computers On Wheels), iPads, Tech Support
  • Math & Reading Specialists
  • Music
  • Art
  • Assistants in Science, Kindergarten, Math & Reading
  • Additional Hours for Library & PE

Read-A-Thon - We have just one more week left in our Read-A-Thon. Please continue to encourage your readers to log there minutes over the spring break. Are you seeing family and friends over the break? Bring along your pledge form and ask them to support your child's school while fostering a love of reading. $10,000 is our goal and we can achieve that if each family raises $25! Remember to turn in your completed forms and pledges by April 5th.

Auction - Buy your tickets now for our Live Auction on Friday, April 26th from 6:30-12:30. This is the last fundraiser of the year so we need your help to make it a success. Our fundraising goal for the online, silent and live auction is $65,000. Spread the word and help us continue to fund the excellent education your child deserves.

Got Gift Cards? - We are accepting donations of unused gift cards for the online auction through Friday April 12th. Did you get a gift card for the holidays you know you won't use? Dig them out and donate them to the online Auction! Drop off donations in the front office with your name and we will recognize your donation  online.

Elections

The Opportunity of a LiFetime!

The Twin Creeks Learning Fund (LF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds and determining the most effective use of those funds to help maintain and enhance the quality of education at Twin Creeks Elementary School through the collaboration of parents, educators, the school’s Site Council, the school’s PTA, and the community.

The LF annual meeting will be held on Monday, April 8, at 5:30pm in the TC Library.  The elections for the 2013-2014 Board will be held during the meeting.  We need new Directors, so we’d love to see you stand for election!

The Board can consist of anywhere from 7 to 15 Directors.  4 of the board members are the school prinicpal, a school faculty member, a PTA representative, and a School Site Council representative. So we will have anywhere from 3-11 additional Directors.  Directors on next year’s Board will have the following responsibilities:
1) Attend the monthly board meetings (Mondays at 5:30pm).
2) Take on an Officer role (President, VP, Secretary, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, etc.)
3) Chair or help with at least one of our fundraisers.  This past year, we had 4 fundraisers:  mixed bags/wrapping paper, spelling bee, read-a-thon, and auction.
4) Represent TC LF at one or more school-wide events, including registration (mid-Aug), back to school night (early Sept), kindergarten assessment (early May), and open house (late May).

Each Director is elected for a two-year term.   The following Twin Creeks parents will be returning for the second year of their term:  Yvette Givvin, Bill Nash, and Michelle Byrne.  You will also work with TC Principal Barb Mallon and one or two of our TC teachers.
Participating as an LF Director is a great way to make a significant difference in the quality of your child’s school.  So come out and give it a try!  And even if you don’t want to be a Director, come to the meetings – the monthly meetings are open to anyone who is part of the TC community.  And you are welcome to vote on issues if you have donated any amount of money to the Learning Fund.

We hope to see you on April 8 and at any LF meeting!

Not sure what this Auction is all about? See below for our most Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. What should I expect at the auction?
A.
We will once again host our auction at the Wedgewood in San Ramon.  Your ticket price includes  2 hours of hosted bar, heavy appetizers (passed and stationed), dessert, dancing, silent and live auction! Although we won't be having a sit down dinner we've made sure the appetizer menu has more than enough to fill you up for the evening!

Q. It felt a little crowded last year, will there be more space during the cocktail party?
A.
Yes! We heard your feedback from last year and have made plans to spread out our cocktail party area into the main room and outside. We'll have plenty of space for you to move around and get to our delicious appetizer spread (yes we are bringing back the mashed potato bar!). We've also requested more help behind the bar.

Q. Ok, I definitely don’t want to miss the fun, how do I buy tickets?
A.
You can purchase tickets at the great price of $55 through April 15th on our registration site or stop in the office to drop off your ticket form and payment.

Q. Can I bring other guests like Grandparents, Neighbors or Friends?

A. Yes! The more guests we have the more money we raise for our kids! Bring friends, neighbors and family (Adults only!) to this fun-filled  night. If you have a guest who would like to attend but isn't registered with your family online you can either add them to your family profile or use this form and return it with your payment to the front office.

Q. I'd love to go but don't have a sitter.
A.
Kids Country is opening their Bollinger site for our Auction. Details and sign ups will be posted soon. Your children can enjoy a fun evening at Kids Country while you enjoy the Auction. We will have Bus service to and from the site.

Q. Will you offer bus service?
A.
Yes, we will have service to and from the auction. For just $15 roundtrip you can enjoy a glass of champagne on your way to the auction in our luxury bus. We'll get you there in style and bring you home safely. You can buy tickets online or by printing this form.

Q. Are you accepting Donation
A.
Yes! We are still looking for donations of timeshares, airline miles, tickets to events and gift cards. Please contact us if you have an item to donate or have a good contact we can reach out to.

Why was the Learning Fund developed?

California has fewer school staff per pupil than any other state in the nation.  It also spends less than the national average per pupil. The parents and staff of Twin Creeks believe that all of our students deserve exposure to advanced computer technology, increased library hours, introduction to choral music, reading & math intervention. The Learning Fund was established to provide critical staff that the school district and the state cannot fund.

In our April Meeting we elected our 2012-2013 Board. Please contact us at any time to find out more about how your donation is being spent and how you can help.

In our May Meeting we approved our  Budget  for the 2012-2013 school year. We need your support to meet our budget commitments.

Here's how you can help ensure your child gets the education they DESERVE:

  • Make a donation to the Learning Fund at Registration on August 15th. We suggest a donation of $250 for a single child and $400 for families. If you commit to the suggested donation we offer a 10-month installment plan. That's just $25 or $40/month! Less than a dinner out.
  • Find out if your employer matches your donation. Corporate matching can often double your donation!
  • Sign up and renew your e-scrip account and make sure you have indicated Twin Creeks Elementary as your beneficiary
  • Sign up for a  Target Redcard (debit or credit card) from Target and indicate you want your beneficiary to be Twin Creeks Elementary
  • Support our Mixed Bag Fundraiser in the Fall
  • Support our Read-A-Thon Fundraiser in the Winter
  • Support our Auction Fundraiser in the Spring
