Health news from our school nurse
Once again Leah Lawrence coordinated a nice group of parent volunteers who assisted me with various duties on the screening days. Special thanks to these kind ladies: Leah Lawrence, Rachel Gonzales, Beth Kowata, Kathy Stout and Sandra Pellatiro. Your help was greatly appreciated.
Winter is here and often there is more illness amongst us. Be diligent with the 5 basics of maintaining good health: practice thorough hand washing; cover coughs and sneezes; keep hands away from touching your mouth, nose and eyes to prevent the spread of germs; plan to eat well-balanced meals with plenty of fruits and vegetables; and get a good night’s sleep every day.
Some students have asthma or allergies which can get worse in the winter months. If your child requires medication during school hours, you need to fill out a district Medication Form and have it signed by your doctor. This applies to both prescription and over-the-counter medications. There are no exceptions. All medication orders need to be renewed every school year. Please be sure to bring the medication in the original container or box and make sure the medication has not passed the expiration date.
If you have questions or concerns about your child’s health needs, please contact me. I am here at Twin Creeks on Wednesdays, and happy to help you.
Have a nice winter break and best wishes for a healthy 2015.

Twin Creeks Adopt-a-book program
ADOPT – A – BOOK
At Twin Creeks Elementary!!
The Twin Creeks Library Adopt-A-Book Program is an opportunity to give a gift that can be opened again and again. Your gift can be for any reason: in honor of your student, an accomplishment, a friend, a beloved pet, a graduation, a birthday, in recognition of a favorite teacher, a gift in memoriam, or simply to support the Library! A customized bookplate will be placed inside each adopted book noting the person or event honored. We will send a gift acknowledgement e-mail including the book title/author and a picture of your child with the book (if applicable). This picture will also be displayed on the Twin Creeks Library web-site! Your child will be the first one to check out the “adopted” book. When it’s returned, the “adopted” book becomes a part of the Twin Creeks Library to be enjoyed by students for many years to come! Please call the school at 925-855-2900 (ask for the library) or e-mail our Librarian (Adrienne Casebeer – email@example.com) if you have questions or would like any additional information about the program.
